Running For A Cure
Hello! Welcome to my web-Site! This is my first attempt at making a web page, so don't laugh!! This is also my first attempt at running a marathon. I joined up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's TEAM IN TRAINING and will be running the Governor's Cup Marathon in Montana on June 2, 2001. I will be running in honor of a very sweet young lady named Katie. Katie lives in York and I finally got to meet her in December. Katie was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease when she was just 15 years-old. When I met her in December she had just turned 16 and was learning how to drive!! I will also be running in honor of my Aunt Peg who had leukemia when she was a teenager, and in honor of a friend's grandmother, who also has a blood-related cancer.
HERE IS WHAT WE DO: I have pledged to raise $3500 to run this marathon. In exchange for raising that money I get to meet all kinds of great people like Katie and her family, and the very helpful volunteers at the Society. I also get to travel, help out all kinds of people, and get in shape at the same time. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society takes a TEAM IN TRAINING volunteer and trains them how to run a marathon. Most that sign up have never even had on a pair of running shoes, let alone run a marathon. But the TEAM IN TRAINING coaches are there to help every step of the way. (And believe me when I say there are countless steps taken during the training period! Most people begin training about four to five months in advance!) Not only will you benefit from improved physical fitness, you will also feel great about yourself for contributing to such a worthy cause! WHAT YOU CAN DO: Here is how you fit in: I have raised approximately half of my fund raising goal. I need your help to meet the $3500 mark. I am asking anyone who can help to please send a donation in any amount. (All donations are tax-deductible.) If you can help, please send a check to: Team In Training c/o Kelli Uhlman 1701 Taxville Rd #17F York PA 17404 PLEASE MAKE YOUR CHECK PAYABLE TO THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY. |
